What are your favourite sports/what all you play?
WOW, so much activity in the forum and no post in this thread. With London Olympics just about 4 months left to start, thought of starting at least one.
We should all play, play is the best form of exercise. If physical sports is good for body then mental sports are good for mind.
I have heard aspies saying, no interest in sports etc. Well then you can list anything you like to play eg. chess, ludo, carrom, cards etc.
I love cricket, played TT, football, cricket, badminton in school, though just for fun never played competitive tournaments.
I love watching all kind of sports wrestling, boxing, TT etc. and of course cricket.

thank you sir
i rarely watch cricket and don't like any other sports game.
and played cricket sometimes during childhood.
when my friends said me to play cricket i always ignored.
but thank you for posting something. its not always necessary that aspie don't like sports. they mostly don't like team sports.

Haha!! Finally I found an Indian who does not like cricket. I knew if I find such an Indian, he would be an aspie. This is celebration time for me. I feel so disgusted by Indian people's mad craze for cricket, but I just can't explain to them how stupid it is. They just don't understand

Re: What are your favourite sports/what all you play?
why it is stupid? (Just want to know reason by you), Btw same here alsoI feel so disgusted by Indian people's mad craze for cricket, but I just can't explain to them how stupid it is. They just don't understand
Why Cricket is stupid
Oh, there are so many reasons!!
1. It is the second slowest sport in the world. Most of the time is spent rearranging players in the field, there's hardly any action. It goes on for the whole day, sometimes 5 days! People just sit in front of the TV like idiots, wasting time not studying, not working in office, there is loss of crores of rupees (work hours). Other sports are over in 2 hours, so the fans don't waste that much time.
(20-20 is a new thing, and I appreciate that it saves people's time, but most matches are not yet 20-20.)
2. India spends crores of rupees annually on a sport which is played by only 15 countries. Still we don't win in that, and we think we are world champions. A world champion team is one that defeats dozens of countries, not just one dozen!
3. Because of cricket, other sports suffer very greatly in India. They don't have sponsors, don't have fans, don't have training infrastructure. In spite of that if someone wins an international trophy in another sport, a small photo is printed somewhere on the sports page, and people don't even see that! If India loses a cricket match, it is front page headline above politics and international news.
4. After all this, when people talk like cricket is the greatest sport in the world, and if you don't like cricket, you're not patriotic and all, they just look idiotic to me.
Sorry for the colossal rant, but this was in my head for such a long time, I had to bring it out.

True. But no one continuosly watches it. People only watch test cricket when they have time.

I agree it is slow, but different people have different tastes. We all have grown up watching it so it is like this.

BCCI is a private organisation, which is run by a bunch of politicains who don't know the C of cricket. If crores are spent that only goes in their pockets.

Cricket was not always the people's favourite sport. There was a time when Hockey ruled India. You know why because we used to win in it. But this bloody politics in sport ruined it and then we weren't doing any good in other sports. 1983 changed the scenarion when India won the world cup. People started associating with cricket, hockey was left way behind. Now again same thing started happening with cricket. Too much of anything is bad, team is starting to loose and stadiums look empty now. Dont believe me see Common wealth effect, other sports are starting to gain followers, e.g Shooting, boxing, wrestling have quite a good infrastructure now. In Recent Olympic hockey qualifiers final you should have seen the stadium was full people started watching again atleast i did. I watched the commonwealth games and the beijing Olympics and there should be a lot more people.
As far as sponsors go, they will go where people's interest goes. Like bee behind honey. All they want is money. Media is the biggest culprit, evey news channel and news papers wants there product to be sold, they will print what not.
5. After all this, when people talk like cricket is the greatest sport in the world, and if you don't like cricket, you're not patriotic and all, they just look idiotic to me.
Hahaha this I have also heard but as a sport nothing is bad.

Some of your points are also there in the link I put up.
I actually didn't understand whether you agree with me or disagree. Is India's mad craze for cricket disgusting or it's not?
